A school or organisation that enters into a separate written CASA service agreement is also bound by that agreement. If a signed service agreement expressly conflicts with these Terms, the signed agreement controls to the extent of that conflict.
1. About CASA
CASA School (“CASA”, “we”, “us” or “our”) provides technology for school administration and operations. Features may include student registry, attendance, student identity, physical credentials, biometric identity verification, staff access, school structure, academic operations, reporting and parent or guardian communications.
2. Acceptance
By accessing or using CASA on behalf of yourself, a school or another organisation, you agree to these Terms and confirm that you have authority to bind the organisation you represent where applicable.
3. Eligibility and authority
CASA is intended for authorised educational institutions, their personnel and other users granted legitimate access. Schools are responsible for deciding which staff members should have access and promptly removing or changing access when roles change.
4. School responsibilities
- provide accurate and lawful information;
- have lawful authority and lawful bases to process student, guardian and staff data;
- give required privacy notices and obtain consent where applicable;
- control staff permissions and safeguard administrator credentials;
- supervise attendance, identity and safeguarding decisions through authorised personnel;
- maintain accurate guardian contact and notification preferences;
- comply with applicable education, privacy, employment and child-protection laws.
5. Children, sensitive data and biometrics
A school must not enable or use sensitive-data functionality unless it has completed the legal, privacy and governance steps required for that processing. Where consent is required, the school is responsible for obtaining and demonstrating valid consent, including parental or guardian authorisation where applicable. CASA biometric functionality may not be used for unrelated surveillance, discriminatory profiling, covert monitoring or any unlawful purpose.
6. User accounts and security
Users must keep credentials confidential, use only accounts assigned to them and promptly report suspected compromise. Users must not bypass access controls, impersonate another person, interfere with security mechanisms or obtain information outside their authorised scope.
7. Attendance, identity and safeguarding
CASA records and assists with school operational processes. CASA is not a substitute for a school’s safeguarding duties, staff supervision, emergency procedures or professional judgment. Attendance, scan, card, biometric and notification records may require human review where there is an exception, dispute, suspected misuse or safety concern.
8. Student cards and credentials
Physical or digital student credentials managed through CASA support school identity and operations. Schools are responsible for physical card custody, approved replacement procedures and promptly revoking lost, compromised or invalid credentials.
9. Messaging and WhatsApp
CASA may enable schools to send operational notifications through third-party communications services, including the WhatsApp Business Platform. Message delivery depends on the provider, recipient availability, network conditions, approved templates and provider policies. Messaging must not be relied on as the sole channel for emergencies.
10. Acceptable use
- Do not break the law or violate another person’s rights.
- Do not upload information you are not authorised to process.
- Do not harass, threaten, exploit or endanger a child or any other person.
- Do not distribute malware, probe systems without permission or defeat service security.
- Do not send unlawful, deceptive or unsolicited communications.
- Do not use biometric or identity functionality for an unauthorised purpose.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, provider outages, connectivity problems, security events or circumstances beyond reasonable control may affect access. CASA may improve, replace or discontinue features where reasonably necessary.
12. Third-party services
CASA may interoperate with cloud infrastructure, communications, identity, biometric, database or security providers. Those services may be subject to their own terms and technical limitations.
13. Fees and payment
Any subscription, onboarding, implementation, support or other fees will be communicated through an order form, invoice, quotation, service agreement or other agreed commercial document. CASA does not impose a charge merely because a person visits this public website.
14. Intellectual property
CASA and its licensors retain rights in the platform, software, interfaces, documentation, branding and original materials, except for content owned by a school or another user. Authorised users receive only the limited rights necessary to use the service for legitimate school operations during the agreed service period.
15. School data
As between CASA and the school, the school retains its rights in institutional content and personal data it lawfully provides. The school authorises CASA to process that information only as necessary to provide, secure, support and lawfully administer the service or as otherwise agreed.
16. Privacy
CASA’s Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled. Schools may also be required to provide their own privacy notices describing their use of CASA.
17. Suspension and termination
CASA may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a security risk, unlawful activity, material breach, non-payment under an applicable agreement or a threat to users or the service. Where appropriate and practicable, CASA will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue.
18. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CASA does not warrant that software will be entirely error-free, that every third-party integration will always be available, or that the platform can replace professional, safeguarding, legal or regulatory judgment required of a school. Nothing excludes a duty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Limitation of liability
Liability should be allocated in the applicable commercial agreement having regard to the nature and value of the service. CASA does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or any other matter for which Nigerian law prohibits an exclusion or limitation.
20. Unlawful institutional use
To the extent permitted by law and subject to any written agreement, an organisation may be responsible for claims, losses or regulatory consequences resulting from information it had no lawful authority to process, misuse of CASA, or unlawful instructions given to CASA.
21. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties should first attempt in good faith to resolve a dispute through direct discussions. Any formal dispute mechanism in a signed service agreement takes priority for that customer relationship.
22. Changes
CASA may update these Terms to reflect legal, security, operational or product changes. The current version will be published on this page with its revision date.
